Whippany, NJ

Whippany is a unincorporated community located within Hanover Township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. Whippany's name is derived from the Whippanong Native Americans, a tribe that once inhabited the area. Whippanong meant "place of the willows", named for the trees growing along the banks of the Whippany River.

Patriot's Path is a trail-and-greenway system in southern Morris County - and beyond - which links federal, state, county, and municipal parks, watershed lands, historic sites, and other points of interest. 

Most of the hiking, biking and horse trails lie along the corridors of the Whippany, Black and Raritan rivers. The Patriots' Path stretches from East Hanover, where it connects with the Lenape Trail in Essex County to Allamuchy Mountain State Park in Sussex County, intersecting with the Columbia Trail in Washington Township.

Patriot's Path is a part of both the September 11th National Memorial Trail and the Liberty-Water Gap Trail.

Bee Meadow Pool is located at Bee Meadow Park and includes a diving board, slides, a shallow area, a bathhouse, and a snack bar.

Hanover Township Rain Garden Stormwater management can be beautiful. The Whippany River Watershed Action Committee (WRWAC) and the Rutgers Extension worked together using a grant from the Watershed Institute to build a demonstration rain garden at the Whippanong Library side of the Hanover Township Municipal Complex.

Stoney Brook Community Farm is open to Hanover Township residents. This communal garden features 144 pots including 4 raised beds for the physically limited. Garden is open year round.
